White Ribbon Fundraising Ideas for 2024

White Ribbon Fundraising Ideas for 2024

White Ribbon Day (25th November), dedicated to ending violence against women and promoting gender equality, is an important occasion for raising awareness and funds. Here are some fundraising ideas you can implement to support MK Act and our Milton Keynes community, which is a White Ribbon City:

  1. Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
  • Organise a community walk or run where participants wear white ribbons or themed apparel. Charge an entry fee, and consider selling additional items like ribbons, t-shirts, or water bottles to raise extra funds.
  1. White Ribbon Bake Sale
  • Host a bake sale with themed treats like white ribbon cookies, cupcakes with white frosting, or even healthy snacks. Consider partnering with local bakeries or inviting volunteers to contribute baked goods. All proceeds can go towards White Ribbon Day causes.
  1. Silent Auction or Raffle
  • Collect donations from local businesses or artisans and hold a silent auction or raffle. Items can range from gift baskets to services, artwork, or experiences. Themed items related to White Ribbon Day or gender equality can make the event even more impactful.
  1. Wear White Day
  • Encourage your workplace, school, or community group to wear white in support of White Ribbon Day. Participants can make a donation to join, and you can also host a group photo or a virtual gathering to share why the cause is important.
  1. Charity Yoga or Fitness Class
  • Partner with a local gym or yoga studio to host a special charity class where all proceeds go to support White Ribbon Day. This can be an in-person event or a virtual class, making it accessible to a wider audience.
  1. White Ribbon Day Breakfast or Luncheon
  • Organise a breakfast or luncheon event with guest speakers who can discuss the importance of ending violence against women and promoting gender equality. Charge for entry, and consider including a silent auction or donation drive as part of the event.
  1. Social Media Fundraiser
  • Leverage social media platforms to host a virtual fundraiser. Share stories, statistics, and information about White Ribbon Day, and encourage followers to donate. You can also use platforms like Facebook or Instagram to create fundraising campaigns that reach a broader audience.
  1. DIY White Ribbon Craft Sale
  • Host a craft workshop where participants can make their own white ribbons, jewelry, or other themed items. Charge a fee for participation and sell additional supplies or finished products, with proceeds going to support the cause.
  1. Community Concert or Open Mic Night
  • Organise a concert or open mic night featuring local musicians, poets, or performers. Charge for tickets and include a donation station where attendees can contribute to the cause.
  1. White Ribbon Day Pledge Wall
  • Set up a pledge wall where people can write messages of support or commit to taking action against violence. Each pledge can be accompanied by a donation, and the wall can be displayed in a prominent location or shared online.
  1. Film Screening and Discussion
  • Host a screening of a documentary or film related to gender equality or ending violence against women. After the screening, facilitate a discussion or Q&A session, with all proceeds from ticket sales going to White Ribbon Day initiatives.
  1. Virtual Challenge
  • Create a virtual challenge, such as walking or running a certain distance, or completing a set number of steps each day leading up to White Ribbon Day. Participants can raise funds by seeking sponsorships from friends, family, and colleagues.

These ideas can help raise awareness and funds for White Ribbon Day while engaging your community in meaningful action. For a free copy our fundraising pack or to talk to our fundraising and marketing team. email [email protected].
