Carol Loxton, MK Act’s Founder leaves behind an everlasting legacy for victims of domestic abuse in Milton Keynes and honoured by MK Rose
Carole Loxton, MK Act’s founder, was recognised this week by being admitted to the MK
Founders Pillar. It was such an honour for the Milton Keynes based domestic abuse charity
to celebrate this wonderful woman. Carole started the first women’s refuge in MK in her
home 45 years ago. From these humble beginnings, MK Act now has 32 staff, 20 volunteers
and supports over 2000 people each year.
Sue Burke, MK Act’s Chief Exec said; “I know that myself, trustees and wonderful team are
currently holding the baton for MK Act and that is a privilege but we have taken it from
Carole and all the amazing women before with the focus always being on supporting, empowering and making safe those who experience Domestic Abuse in MK. This week is to say ‘thank you’ to Carol and to mark the massive impact that she had on the community of MK by founding MK Act and becoming a founder of MK.”
Carol’s husband, Roger Loxton read a poem and Amanda Marlow, Mayor of MK, Debbie Brock, High Sheriff, and Rev Joyce Vassell were all in attendance and also said a few words at the ceremony this week to honour Carol.
