Join MK Act’s Board of Trustees
MK Act, a leading Milton Keynes charity supporting those affected by domestic abuse, is looking for passionate and committed individuals to join its Board of Trustees. This voluntary role is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by domestic abuse and the safety of our local community.
Trustees play a vital role in shaping MK Act’s strategic direction, ensuring the charity continues to provide essential services to those in need. The role is open to those with no prior experience as a trustee—just a willingness to contribute expertise, time, and commitment.
What does the role involve?
- Our trustees meet monthly online/hybrid on alternative months
- Share your expertise and be part of a team
- Take part in strategic subgroups which you have an interest in
- Join us for our annual strategic workshop in MK
- Trustees receive an induction and domestic abuse training
- Trustee mentors provide support for new trustees
- No previous experience as a trustee is necessary
- Trustees do not need to be based in Milton Keynes
- This is a voluntary role
- We require two personal references and if successful, DBS criminal records check
MK Act welcomes applicants from diverse professional backgrounds who can bring fresh perspectives and skills to the board. And understanding of issues of inequality and is informed about current affairs is desirable. Two personal references and a DBS criminal records check are required for successful candidates. Prospective trustees are invited to an informal drop in and meet current board members, volunteers, and team members at our upcoming open events:
📅 Thursday 24th April 2025 – 6:30-8:00 PM at Dunelm, Milton Keynes, MK6 1AJ (upstairs in the café area).
📅 Friday 25th April 2025 – 12:00-2:00 PM at Witan Studios Boardroom, Milton Keynes, MK9 1EJ (entrance just left of Out of Office coffee shop).
No registration is required—just come along for an informal chat.
Interviews for trustee positions will be held on Saturday 31st May 2025.
