MK Act receives Respect Accreditation for domestic abuse prevention programme

MK Act is pleased to share that we have renewed and maintained our accreditation with Respect. The Fresh Start Programme which includes a group programme and 1 to 1 programme for all genders who recognise they are displaying behaviours in their current or past relationship that are characteristic of domestic abuse, has once again been accredited by Respect, the UK membership organisation in the domestic abuse sector.

These behaviours might be controlling and coercive behaviour, stalking and harassment, to financial or physical abuse. The programme commissioned by Milton Keynes City Council offers support to those behind the abuse as well as partners and ex-partners to ensure they are being supported and accessing any services they might need.

Those who take part in the programme commit to a course over a period of time, to discuss behaviours associated with domestic abuse, healthy relationships and parenting. The programme is in place to try to address the cause of the problem, increase the safety of both partners and their family and to prevent further incidents of abuse in that relationship and future intimate partnerships.

Kate, Fresh Start Manager: “Being accredited by Respect reassures those who we work with that we are adhering to appropriate and high standards, following expert guidance and delivering the very best programme we can in Milton Keynes. Our work is monitored, assessed and delivered to the best working practices by our brilliant team.”

About Fresh Start

The programme is available to residents in Milton Keynes and the surrounding Thames valley area. We accept self-referrals and referrals from local agencies. Please take a look at our website to find out more: Fresh Start | MK-ACT (mkact.com)
